CounselWeb
E-Mail Names - The Basics
jsmith@litigation.net
c.jones@familylaw.net
fredmartinez@criminallaw.net
susan.goldstein@businesslaw.net
jsmith@smithjones.com
Do these e-mail addresses look better than your
current e-mail address? CounselWeb can upgrade your
existing e-mail account -- regardless of who your e-mail
provider is -- and provide you with e-mail names like
these.
Here's how it works. E-mail addresses have two
components: a user name (to the left of the @ sign) and a
domain name (to the right of the @ sign). For example, in
the email address snoopy421@ix.compuline.net,
the user name is snoopy421 and the domain
name is ix.compuline.net.
CounselWeb
E-Mail Names - The Benefits
Even though e-mail is a valuable tool, many lawyers
omit their e-mail address from their business cards and
letterhead. We have found that there are two general
reasons for this:
- Many e-mail addresses do not look professional.
Most commercial domain names are the technical
name of a computer company, and many people have
chosen something humerous, numerical, or
incomprehensible for their user name. snoopy421@ix.compuline.net
does not look like it belongs on a lawyer's
business card or letterhead.
- Many people are considering changing their
internet service provider and do not want to put
a soon-to-be obsolete e-mail address on
letterhead and business cards.
CounselWeb e-mail addresses can solve all three
problems. CounselWeb can provide you or your law firm
with an e-mail address at one of our domain names OR we
can register your firm name (or anything else) as a
domain name for you. CounselWeb e-mail addresses are
simple to use, professional, portable, and consistent.
SIMPLICITY - MAIL IS
FORWARDED IN SECONDS - An e-mail message sent
to a CounselWeb e-mail account is passed along though our
on-line mail server to your e-mail account. This happens
in a matter of seconds, and the entire process is
invisible to both you and to the sender.
SIMPLICITY - YOUR REPLY
ADDRESS IS CORRECT - Your outgoing e-mail
contains a reply address listing your e-mail address.
This reply address shows up on the recipient's screen
when new mail comes in, and the recipient can reply to
your e-mail simply by hitting the 'reply' button on his
or her e-mail program. You can easily to change this
reply address to your new CounselWeb e-mail address by
simply typing it in the 'options' or 'preferences' page. Details here.
PROFESSIONAL LOOK - A humerous, technical, or
incomprehensible e-mail name does not project a
professional image. And there is no reason to use your
e-mail address to advertise your internet provider
rather than your own law practice. CounselWeb e-mail
names can help you identify your legal practice area or
specialty or your own law firm.
PORTABILITY - CHANGE E-MAIL
PROVIDERS WITHOUT CHANGING YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS - With a CounselWeb e-mail
address, you can easily change your e-mail provider
without changing your e-mail address. To change your
e-mail provider, simply notify us of your new e-mail
address, and we will configure our mail server to forward
your e-mail to your new account.
This benefit is likely to be
more important than most people realize. The internet is
growing tremendously and undergoing enormous change.
Several internet service providers have already gone out
of business or merged with other companies. Other have
provided poor service or increased their prices. These
trends are likely to continue. There is no need to lock
yourself in to an e-mail provider simply because too many
people have your e-mail address.
Matching
Webpages
MATCHING WEBPAGES - CounselWeb also offers webpages
at our domain names that match your e-mail address. For
example, if your e-mail address is
CJones@familylaw.net
your webpage address can be
www.familylaw.net/CJones
